Pete the Cat Day 4

We read Kitten's First Full Moon and completed a Sequencing Story Map.

Leyna was our calendar helper.

We read Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons and listened to the song. Then we played a math game called "Race to the Top".  The students rolled the dice and then placed their buttons on the gameboard for the number they rolled. The first person to get to the top won.

We read Bad Kitty and completed a character map to describe the kitty in the story.

After reading Kitten's First Full Moon (It's about a kitten who thinks the moon looks like a bowl of milk, so she tries everything to get to the moon and drink it.)
We did an experiment in the afternoon using MILK.

We were so excited about our science experiment! After discussing the steps needed to conduct a science experiment, we followed the directions for the Rainbow Milk Science Experiment. We watched how the milk mixed with the dish detergent and caused a chemical reaction. We were able to see this chemical reaction by adding food coloring! After the experiment we recorded our observations using pictures and writing.

To end our day, we read the final Pete the Cat book, Rocking in My School Shoes and listened to the song. What a fun week we had doing math, writing, reading and science!
