What a wonderful first week we spent getting to know each other and learning all of our important classroom procedures.
This is how we line up quietly.
Word Work:
We used letter tiles to make as many words as we could.
We eat a healthy snack every day at 9:00am. Please remember to bring something small, healthy, and not messy. :)
We talked about how we go home each day and made a graph. Then we discussed our results.
Every day at the start of our math lesson, we have our Calendar Time.
We read a fiction story about a boy and how he spent his summer vacation. We made predictions before we read and then answered questions about what event happened next in the story.
We practiced writing our numbers and letters correctly.
We read a story about a monster that came to school. We sorted good choices and bad choices the monster made. Then we all drew a picture of ourselves making a good choice at school.
We read the story Chrysanthemum. It's about a mouse who loves her unique name. Then she starts school and the other students make fun of her name.
We each had a paper heart that we got to crumple up each time Chrysanthemum's feelings were hurt in the story. In the end, Chrysanthemum's music teacher makes her feel better about her name because she has a really long name too and her name is a flower also. Then we wrote about the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
With a partner we played math games. We did a great job working with a classmate and staying on task.
